Bawumia Fun Club condemns disturbances

THE Bawumia Fun Club in Accra has condemned the recent disturbances in Tamale and called on all northerners not to allow any individual or a group of persons to derail the vision that God has for the region.
"We should eschew violence, hatred and unnecessary mob action, since they serve no purpose for anybody," it added.
The President of the Club, Mr Farouk M. Mayonga, in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra, said it was time for northerners to do away with violent acts as they would not improve their standard of living in anyway.
He said "politicians will come and go, but the relationship between brothers and sisters will remain, no matter their political affiliations".
He bemoaned the norm where politicians always lured northerners in particular into fighting and other violent acts and at the end of the day, leave them impoverished and underdeveloped, noting that it was time they stopped the fighting and start thinking about how to harness their enormous natural and human resources to the benefit of the region and the country in general.
Mr Mayonga stated that what northerners should be happy about was the fact that both John Mahama and Mahamudu Bawumia were northern brothers who could help bridge the gap between the north and the south.
He noted that the Northern Region had a lot of untapped resources such as the shea nut industry, the discovery of cement in Mamprugi land near Gbangda and the vast land in the region which could be used for commercial agricultural activities.
He advised northerners not to engage in any acts of violence that might hamper economic and social activities in the region.
